If you want to go green when cleaning your house, you might want to stock up on vinegar and baking soda which are safe for the environment.  Vinegar is great for cleaning around the house because of its acidity. Vinegar can be a great cleaner for cleaning hard water and soap scum.  Baking soda, on the other hand, is alkaline and it is great for scrubbing.  You just water to it to make a scrub.  Castile soap is another great product for cleaning.  Here are a few homemade cleaning products recipes for trouble spots:

For the bathtub:

Use vinegar to get rid of soap scum or you can mix baking soda with water if you want to scour.

To Clean the Sink:

Use baking soda and water.  If you want to make your sink look brighter, just pour vinegar in the sink and leave it for a while.

To Clean your Drain:

This is a great degreaser for your drain.  First you pour about 1/2 cup of baking soda down the drain followed by 1 cup of vinegar. It will begin to bubble so let it bubble for 15 minutes.  Rinse with hot water.  You may want to repeat the procedure or you can leave it overnight for a better result.

To Clean your Toilet:

The toilet bowl can be a little difficult to clean.  You can clean your toilet with borax.  Just pour 1 cup of borax into the toilet bowl and allow it to sit overnight or you for an extra-strength cleaner, you can add 1/4 cup of vinegar to the borax.  Scrub and flush your toilet the next morning.  Another idea would be for you to buy a toilet cleaning product from the health food store.

To Clean your Floor:

Use diluted vinegar and then water rinse afterwards.

The above recipes are great if you are living on a frugal budget and you are looking for a way to save money on cleaning products.
